Role Overview:
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care and clinical responsibilities as per licensure and training.
- Maintain regular attendance and fulfill duties throughout the entire work shift.
- Availability for overtime as required by management.
- Ability to navigate stairways in housing units to provide nursing assistance when necessary.
- Engage with inmate clients to address health care-related conflicts and supervise their activities within the medical department.
- Effectively communicate both in writing and verbally.
- Assist in lifting and repositioning inmates, as well as transferring and ambulating them.
- Utilize manual dexterity for direct patient care tasks.
- Possess corrected vision for assessing inmates and ensuring personal safety.
- Ability to hear adequately for communication and medical assessments.
Nursing Responsibilities:
Implement nursing care plans as directed by the Registered Nurse or Physician, which includes monitoring vital signs, administering medications, performing treatments, and assisting with daily living activities. Reinforce education to ensure high-quality service delivery.
Conduct assessments of inmates' needs through appropriate observations and report any physical or emotional behavioral changes.
Prepare and administer medications as prescribed by the physician, ensuring accurate documentation of all treatments.
Carry out therapeutic interventions as ordered for inmates and adhere to all infection control protocols.
Assist inmates with daily living activities and hygiene to meet their basic physical care needs.
Manage inventory of supplies and equipment, ensuring adequate stock levels in treatment areas.
Support the preparation of medical incident reports regarding injuries or sudden illnesses.
Utilize sterilization methods for supplies and instruments.
Conduct visual acuity and other medical examinations as required.
Respond to emergencies and provide first aid and CPR when necessary.
Maintain professional development through attendance at mandatory training sessions and meetings.
