Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Sworn Police Officer to join our team at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. As a key member of our public safety team, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for our students, faculty, and staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Patrolling university property on foot, bicycle, or by vehicle to engage with the community and prevent crimes
  • Detecting and interrupting crimes in progress, enforcing city, state, and federal laws, and conducting investigations on criminal offenses and traffic accidents
  • Providing documentation and testimony to judicial boards and courts, and providing general security for university properties and citizens on campus

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency
  • Ability to meet, communicate, and work with the general public effectively and to react calmly, quickly, and accurately in emergency situations
  • Must successfully pass physical, psychological, and polygraph exams, and meet minimum qualifications to attend and complete the Basic Training Academy as provided by the Nebraska Law Enforcement Training Center
  • Must have a valid driver's license and meet university driver eligibility requirements

Preferred Qualifications

  • State Deputy Sheriff Commission certification, Nebraska Law Enforcement Training Center certification, and CPR certification
  • Specialized training in defensive tactics, firearms, pursuit driving, and hazmat
