Job Summary
The University of Nebraska-Lincoln is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Police Officer to join our team. As a sworn police officer, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment on campus, enforcing laws and regulations, and providing exceptional customer service to the university community.
Key Responsibilities
- Patrolling university property on foot, bicycle, or by vehicle to engage with the community and prevent crimes
- Detecting and interrupting crimes in progress, enforcing traffic regulations, and conducting investigations
- Providing documentation and testimony to judicial boards and courts, and providing general security for university properties and citizens on campus
- Collaborating with other law enforcement agencies and university departments to ensure a safe and secure environment
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalency
- Ability to meet, communicate, and work with the general public effectively
- Must successfully pass physical, psychological, and polygraph exams
- Must meet minimum qualifications to attend and successfully complete the Basic Training Academy as provided by the Nebraska Law Enforcement Training Center
- Must have a valid driver's license and meet university driver eligibility requirements
Preferred Qualifications
- State Deputy Sheriff Commission certification, Nebraska Law Enforcement Training Center certification, and CPR certification
- Specialized training in defensive tactics, firearms, pursuit driving, and hazmat
