UVA Health System is seeking an experienced Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our team in the Emergency Medicine department. As a key member of our interprofessional team, you will collaborate with medical directors, administrative management, nursing, and other healthcare professionals to provide exceptional patient care and management throughout the healthcare system.
Key Responsibilities:- Exercise independent judgment in the assessment, diagnosis, and initiation of medical processes and procedures commensurate with training and experience.
- Perform and document comprehensive health histories and physical assessments, including initiation of CPR or other appropriate emergency therapy as needed.
- Formulate diagnoses, identify problems, and health risk profiles, document, and clearly communicate with other members of the healthcare team.
- Perform procedures within the scope of practice and UVA Health System credentialing and privileges.
- Order medications, treatments, and therapies in accordance with Virginia Prescriptive regulations.
- Request consultation and initiate referrals to other healthcare providers, including specialists when and if needed.
- Evaluate and analyze patient responses to the disease process and/or therapeutic, diagnostic interventions.
- Provide information, education, and support to patients/families regarding disease processes and treatment plans.
- Participate in on-call responsibilities as appropriate and as determined by department or unit.
- Graduate of an accredited graduate school of nursing or physician assistant program with a master's degree.
- Department and unit-specific experience.
- License or license eligible as an Advance Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner, Physician Associate, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, and Certified Nurse Midwife) as set forth by the state of Virginia.
The job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping, reaching (overhead, extensive, and repetitive); Repetitive motion: computer keyboard. Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull lbs. May be exposed to noise, radiation, radioactive materials, blood/body fluids, and infectious disease.
