Job Title: Dean of Math Instruction

At KIPP DC, we are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as a Dean of Math Instruction. This is a critical role in our pursuit of ensuring that each and every one of our students has the skills and mindsets needed to achieve and feel confident as mathematicians, problem-solvers, and critical thinkers

Job Summary:

The Dean of Math Instruction will be responsible for providing direct intervention to students and supporting a cohort of math teachers. This role will involve teaching small groups of students in math, motivating and inspiring them to make math meaningful, and analyzing student data to design instructional action plans. The Dean will also provide weekly student progress report updates to principals, teachers, students, and families.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Intervention:
    • Teach small groups of students in math, making math meaningful and inspiring them to problem-solve and think critically.
    • Monitor progress of instruction action plans with assessments, daily instructional notes, and weekly summary reports.
    • Analyze student data to design instructional action plans.
    • Provide weekly student progress report updates to principals, teachers, students, and families.
  • Peer Coaching Support:
    • Provide thoughtful peer coaching on Eureka Math2 lessons and units.
    • Support peers in the internalization of content.
    • Support peers in the analysis and response to student learning data.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of three successful years lead teaching experience in math.
  • Expertise in assessing, analyzing, and instructing students who struggle with numeracy or mathematical fluency.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of Multi Tiered System of Supports (MTSS).
  • Experience with intervention programs for students who have gaps in math skills.
  • Strong data analysis skills across multiple sources of data.
  • Strong communication, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent collaboration skills.
Compensation and Benefits:
  • Competitive salary and benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurances, and a 403(b) retirement account with a 3% employer contribution and a 3% match with vesting after three years.
  • Up to 10 paid sick days, 12 paid holidays, paid Thanksgiving week break, winter break, spring break, and part of summer break.
