Job Summary

The General Manager is a seasoned hospitality professional responsible for overseeing the overall operations of the Hampton Inn New Orleans St. Charles. This individual will lead a team of management staff and front-line associates to deliver exceptional guest experiences, drive revenue growth, and maintain high-quality service standards.

The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a deep understanding of the hospitality industry. They will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to improve hotel performance, managing budgets, and ensuring compliance with company and brand standards.

This role requires a high level of discretion, independent judgment, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. The General Manager will be expected to maintain a positive and professional demeanor, fostering a culture of excellence and teamwork among the hotel staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a team of management staff and front-line associates to deliver exceptional guest experiences and drive revenue growth.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve hotel performance, manage budgets, and ensure compliance with company and brand standards.
  • Conduct regular inspections of hotel facilities, amenities, and services to ensure high-quality standards are maintained.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Sales to develop and implement sales strategies, including prospecting and existing account calls.
  • Conduct weekly staff meetings, including training sessions, to ensure all team members are informed and aligned with hotel goals and objectives.
  • Meet all financial review dates and corporate-directed programs in a timely fashion.
  • Hold monthly financial reviews with department managers and available supervisors to discuss performance and set goals.
  • Develop and implement training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of management staff and front-line associates.
  • Ensure all employees receive fair and equitable treatment, and maintain a positive and professional work environment.
  • Participate in required M.O.D. coverage as scheduled, and maintain direct contact with and monitor the development of management trainees.
Requirements
  • At least 6 years of progressive experience in a hotel or related field, or a 4-year college degree and at least 4-5 years of related experience, or a 2-year college degree and at least 5-6 years of related experience.
  • Must be proficient in Windows operating systems, company-approved spreadsheets, and word processing.
  • Must have valid driver's license for the applicable state.
  • Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly, evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately, and work well in stressful high-pressure situations.
  • Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure, and be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary.
  • Must have the ability to assimilate complex information, data, etc. from disparate sources and consider, adjust, or modify to meet the constraints of the particular need.
  • Must be effective at listening to, understanding, clarifying, and resolving the concerns and issues raised by co-workers and guests.
  • Must be able to work with and understand financial information and data and basic arithmetic functions.
