Logistics Operations Leader

Position Overview:
Ducommun is a prominent global provider of manufacturing and engineering solutions, specializing in innovative electronic, engineered, and structural offerings for intricate applications in aerospace, defense, and industrial sectors. Our comprehensive collaborative approach, extensive capabilities, and value-added services such as new product introduction, supply chain strategies, and program management deliver significant value to our clients while addressing their complex electronic and structural requirements. The Logistics Operations Leader plays a pivotal role in driving standardized S&OP (Sales, Operations, and Planning), supply chain strategies, cost management, and supplier performance across Ducommun.
Key Responsibilities:
The individual will oversee all facets of the Supply Chain Management process, providing leadership and strategic direction for the complete supply chain function across the business unit/operations center. The scope of leadership encompasses strategic and tactical planning and execution activities associated with all relevant business processes, from the point of backlog order entry to the customer receipt of products, ensuring that quality, delivery, and cost objectives are met.
Supply Chain Strategy Management:
- Guarantees that supply chain management processes yield the highest levels of satisfaction for both internal and external customers.
- Leads supplier development initiatives alongside commodity strategy to ensure comprehensive documentation, including but not limited to NDAs and Terms and Conditions, while supporting commodity leaders in LTA preparation and negotiation.
- Oversees the procurement of materials and services at the lowest total cost to Ducommun.
- Guides and participates in the selection, evaluation, and management of suppliers.
- Collaborates with production control and master scheduling, S&OP leaders, and supply chain members to ensure a forward-looking supply chain process and execution, encompassing demand forecasting, sales order entry, production planning, inventory management, and material preparation.
- Promotes and supports the company's core values of honesty, professionalism, respect, trust, and teamwork, utilizing the Ducommun Way methodology to achieve objectives.
- Works in partnership with SBU and operations center leadership and teams to continuously evaluate operating plans and functional results, applying necessary business improvement methodologies.
To be successful in this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field; MBA preferred.
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in supply chain or a related field, including substantial experience in a leadership capacity (commodity management and supplier development experience preferred).
- At least 3 years of experience with ERP systems.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience with S&OP processes.
- ISM or APICS certification preferred; CPM, CSM, or CPSM preferred.
- Experience in aerospace or electronic component manufacturing is desirable.
