Job Summary and Responsibilities
As a Senior Patient Care Associate (PCA), your primary focus will be to deliver outstanding patient-centered care.

Your responsibilities will include providing essential patient care services, assisting with daily living activities, and ensuring a clean and safe environment for patients.

You will also support the nursing staff with specialized patient care tasks, utilizing your skills and training under the guidance of a registered nurse (RN).

It is essential to adhere to all hospital policies and procedures while complying with State Board of Nursing regulations for unlicensed personnel.


Key Responsibilities:

- Collect and document initial and ongoing patient information throughout their care journey, including admission details, vital signs, height and weight, blood pressure, oxygen levels, fluid intake and output, calorie counts, and other pertinent patient data as per policy.

- Record observations, interactions, patient responses to care activities, and any physical or behavioral changes as they occur. Communicate patient observations to the RN/Team Lead.
- Assist with patient mobility through regular repositioning, ambulation, and use of mobility aids such as walkers, crutches, canes, and wheelchairs. Facilitate patient transfers and discharges.

- Demonstrate proper body mechanics in all tasks.

- Provide or assist with non-medicated care, including non-sterile dressing changes, skin protection, heat or ice application, and use of compression devices.

- Assist in the collection of specimens for diagnostic tests, ensuring accuracy in labeling and transfer.
- Support patients with daily living activities, including eating, bathing, grooming, and elimination. Change bed linens as necessary.
- Conduct hourly rounding and respond promptly to patient requests and call lights, aiming to anticipate and address patient needs proactively.

Qualifications:
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Certified Medical Assistant, or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification required.

- High school diploma or GED is mandatory.

- State CNA certification or documented experience as a PCT is required.
- Candidates may include former RN nursing students who have completed the first clinical semester or those who have completed a state-approved CNA course or hold a CNA certificate.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be current or obtained within the required timeframe.
- Preferred: 2+ years of experience in an acute care environment and 1+ years at an HCA facility.

Parkridge Medical Center is a 270+ bed facility located near downtown Chattanooga, offering a wide range of diagnostic, medical, and surgical services, including cardiovascular surgery and cancer treatment. Our services encompass intensive care, orthopedic and spine surgery, and rehabilitation, alongside a state-of-the-art neurosurgery program.
