Job Summary

This position is responsible for preparing and serving nutritious meals to students in a safe and healthful manner. The ideal candidate will have excellent culinary skills and be able to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and cook meals according to menus and recipes
  • Serve meals to students and staff
  • Perform cleaning duties, including sweeping and mopping of floors, cleaning of equipment and work areas, and dish pot washing
  • Fills beverage machines and vending machines, sets up hot and/or cold food area
  • Delivers food to staff, students, and catering events
  • Prepare Salad Bar and Deli Bar according to program plans
  • Ability to use a slicer
  • Checks and stores incoming supplies
  • Participates in safety training courses as required
  • Attends all mandatory in-service programs and training
  • Supports the goals, objectives, and mission statement set forth by Whitsons Culinary Group
  • Performs all other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Ability to speak and read English in order to understand and perform job assignments, including reading and understanding recipes
  • Extensive physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, and pulling
  • Ability to use POS system
  • Exposure to extreme temperatures (hot and cold) due to cooking and refrigeration equipment
  • Always present a positive and professional image
  • Basic English reading and writing skills
  • Able to pass background screening
  • Able to pass strict background screening
  • ServSafe certification a plus but not required

  • Sit, walk, talk, and hear
  • Use hands and fingers to feel, handle, or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms
  • Be standing on feet majority of the workday in addition to walking back and forth
  • Lift and/or move up to 45 pounds. Lifting while turning side to side is sometimes necessary
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus
