Position Overview
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Electrical Systems Engineer will be responsible for the design, budgeting, and management of installations for engineered electrical control systems related to both capital projects and ongoing improvement initiatives within plant operations. This role also involves providing technical support to plant electronic technicians in diagnosing electrical issues, determining necessary repairs, eliminating root causes of malfunctions, and implementing solutions to enhance efficiency and quality assurance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and resolve issues related to machine control systems, offering recommendations to enhance efficiency and address quality concerns.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in ladder logic/PLC programming, with a preference for Siemens and Rockwell systems.
  • Develop and modify PLC and/or HMI applications, interfaces, or embedded control systems.
  • Oversee the design, installation, integration, and commissioning of new equipment within existing processes and machinery.
  • Possess a solid understanding of AC and DC circuitry and electrical principles.
  • Exhibit versatility in ladder logic and various PLC programming languages, along with a working knowledge of field control devices (motors, relays, switches, photoeyes, etc.).
  • Design, develop, maintain, and modify instrumentation and control systems.
  • Experience in complete electrical control system hardware design, including control panel and field wiring.
  • Proficient in Electrical CAD.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of all equipment operations, maintenance procedures, safety policies, and operational standards.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:
Required:
- Minimum Education Level: Bachelor's Degree
- Specialized Degree: Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- Years of Experience: 3+ Years
- Field of Expertise: Mechanical or Electrical Engineering in a Manufacturing Environment
Preferred:
- Certificates: PMP
- Preferred Field of Expertise: Previous Experience in the Wire and Cable Manufacturing Sector

Additional Preferred Skills:

  • Working knowledge of power distribution, networks, PLC, HMI, and drive hardware/software.
  • Ability to read and create schematic drawings using AutoCAD software.
  • Effective communication skills with Operators, Technicians, Management, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Exhibit a sense of urgency and ownership when working under time constraints.
  • Strong computer skills, proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
- Travel: Domestic travel up to 25%
- Workplace Setting: Primarily in Office/On-Site
- Physical Requirements: Includes carrying/lifting, standing, sitting, and walking in various proportions.

Working Conditions:
Office and Plant Floor settings with various shifts, including overtime, weekends, and holidays, along with exposure to extreme temperatures and loud noise.
