Key Responsibilities:

As an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) in the acute care hospital environment, you will collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary healthcare team, playing a vital role in delivering comprehensive care within the Neurosurgery department.

Assessment & Management:

  • Conduct thorough history and physical examinations, ensuring accurate documentation in the medical records.
  • Utilize appropriate assessment techniques to order and gather relevant diagnostic information and procedures as necessary.
  • Act as the primary responder for nursing and house staff during patient status changes, orders, and in critical situations requiring procedural and resuscitative actions.
  • Evaluate risks associated with the care of patients with acute and complex chronic illnesses, including medication side effects, immobility, impaired nutrition, and more.

Diagnosis:

  • Work collaboratively with the healthcare team to diagnose acute and complex chronic conditions.
  • Manage diagnostic testing through ordering, interpretation, and supervision.
  • Develop prioritized differential diagnoses.
  • Identify complications and initiate appropriate interventions.

Care Planning:

  • Establish expected outcomes based on diagnoses and create a documented care plan addressing complex health needs.
  • Implement evidence-based practice guidelines to formulate a dynamic, individualized care plan applicable across various settings.
  • Adjust and modify the care plan as needed.
  • Prescribe diagnostic and therapeutic interventions.
  • Perform advanced procedures as permitted by privileges and competency validation.

Communication & Collaboration:

  • Maintain continuous communication and collaboration with the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Facilitate effective communication with patients, families, and staff to ensure continuity of care throughout the inpatient and outpatient continuum.

Documentation:

  • Document key components of patient progress through daily notes, transfer summaries, discharge summaries, and other relevant records.
  • Ensure documentation is timely, compliant with acute care standards, and accurately reflects patient acuity.

Professional Development:

  • Exhibit professional practice behaviors, including mentoring and educating graduate students.
  • Engage in research opportunities and analyze evidence-based practices.
  • Participate actively in Advance Practice Grand Rounds and specialty-specific meetings.

Vaccination Requirement:

Covid Vaccination is mandatory for employment within clinical entities. Candidates must be vaccinated prior to the hire date unless an approved medical or religious exemption is obtained.
