Frontier Waste Solutions is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Safety Supervisor to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, the Safety Supervisor will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our drivers and the communities we serve.
Key Responsibilities- Training and Development: Develop and implement comprehensive training programs for new drivers, driver trainers, and risk management repeaters to ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- On-the-Job Training: Provide coaching and guidance to new drivers and supervisors to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties safely and effectively.
- Defensive Driving Initiatives: Coach drivers on defensive driving techniques, emergency reporting and response, and hours of service to minimize the risk of accidents and injuries.
- Safety Technology and Reporting: Assist with the implementation and maintenance of safety technology and reporting systems to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Vehicle Inspections: Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicles and document checks to ensure compliance with FMCSA DOT regulations.
- Maintenance Coordination: Coordinate with maintenance personnel to ensure that vehicles are properly maintained and that any issues are addressed promptly.
- Route Optimization: Monitor route downtime and communicate with maintenance personnel to minimize the impact on productivity.
- Safety Policy Development: Collaborate with management to develop, prepare, and implement safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Training Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all driver training and ensure that training documentation is up-to-date and compliant with regulatory requirements.
- Special Projects: Assist with special projects and other related safety duties as assigned.
- Experience: 3 years of progressively responsible experience in a solid waste operation, including 6 months of supervisory experience.
- Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of FMCSA, OSHA, Federal DOT, and other related state and federal regulations. Ability to safely operate all collection vehicles and equipment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively communicate with people. Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy. High degree of initiative and independent execution.
- Certifications: Possess a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License, with Air Brakes.
- Physical Demands: Must be able to pass a DOT physical. Must be able to climb into and out of truck several times per day using 3 points of contact. Must be able to sit for long periods as well as walk for short periods. Must be able to bend, stoop, crawl, and squat in order to perform a full inspection of the underside of the truck and inspect tires for adequate inflation and potential damage.
