The Defense Systems Group (DSG) offers analysis-driven decision support to senior leaders regarding space architectures, policy and strategy, developmental planning, system of systems engineering, and threat mitigation to influence future space missions within the national security space framework. DSG is distinctive at Aerospace as it not only directly assists major clients, including United States Space Force, United States Space Command, Air Force Material Command, and senior officials at the Pentagon, but also delivers a wide array of services and support throughout the national space landscape, maintaining both vertical responsibilities with clients and horizontal, matrixed responsibilities across the corporation.

Aerospace's Strategic and Global Awareness Directorate (Project West Wing) conducts technical intelligence analysis and research for a diverse range of national security space and intelligence community clients. Our team is committed to providing unique, timely, and independent evaluations and advice regarding current and future threats to the utilization of space, as well as the efficacy of strategic deterrents. Actively contribute to a high-performing team that applies technical expertise to assess the rapidly evolving field of international space technologies and their implications for U.S. National Security Space. Engage in various technical activities, collaborate with technical intelligence, analyze threats to space initiatives, and influence client decisions on critical National Security Space matters. There is potential to cultivate your own areas of expertise and specialization in the analysis of space and missile systems.

Work Model

This position requires 100% onsite presence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Address real-world operational and foundational technical intelligence challenges impacting national security space operations.
  • Represent the Strategic and Global Awareness Directorate and Aerospace on-site, providing Space Domain Awareness (SDA) support and counsel.
  • Maintain strong collaborative relationships with other Aerospace personnel supporting various operations.
  • Conduct independent analyses using astrodynamics and sensor/system performance models.
  • Evaluate the implications of global space, counterspace, and missile activities on U.S. national security space operations.
  • Identify emerging areas of SDA concern and propose recommendations for further data collection and research.
  • Serve as a mentor on space and missile intelligence and SDA topics.
  • Identify technical challenges for which Aerospace can provide support.
  • Act as a liaison to personnel in various locations to leverage subject matter expertise.
  • Prepare technical reports, briefings, and other necessary documentation.
  • Occasional non-standard working hours may be required.
  • Periodic travel may be necessary for coordination with personnel and government agencies.

Qualifications for Success

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical or related discipline.
  • A minimum of 12 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong interest in global space activities and operations.
  • Extensive operational experience within the space or intelligence sectors.
  • Familiarity with U.S. Air Force/Space Force or Joint Operations.
  • Proven ability to synthesize and analyze information from diverse sources.
  • Understanding of astrodynamics fundamentals and experience with analysis tools.
  • Self-starter capable of thriving in high-tempo environments.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Must possess a Top Secret clearance and be eligible for Controlled Access Program (CAP) and SAP accesses.
  • Willingness to undergo a government-administered counterintelligence polygraph test.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced Technical Degree.
  • Basic programming skills in languages such as Python.
