The Defense Systems Group (DSG) delivers analysis-driven decision support to senior officials regarding space architectures, policy, strategy, developmental planning, system engineering, and threat mitigation, shaping future space missions across the national security space landscape. DSG is unique within Aerospace, as it not only directly supports key clients, including the United States Space Force and United States Space Command, but also offers a wide array of services across the national space sector, maintaining both vertical and horizontal responsibilities.

Aerospace's Strategic and Global Awareness Directorate (Project West Wing) provides technical intelligence analysis and research for a diverse range of national security space and intelligence community clients. Our team is committed to delivering unique, timely, and independent assessments regarding current and future threats to space utilization and the efficacy of strategic deterrents. You will actively contribute to a high-performing team, applying technical skills to analyze the rapidly evolving field of international space technologies and their implications for U.S. National Security Space. Engage in various technical activities, analyze threats to space initiatives, and influence critical decisions on National Security Space matters. There is an opportunity to cultivate your own areas of expertise in the analysis of space and missile systems.

Work Model

This position requires on-site presence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Address pressing operational and foundational technical intelligence challenges impacting national security space operations.
  • Represent Aerospace on-site and provide Space Domain Awareness (SDA) support and guidance to senior intelligence officials.
  • Maintain strong collaborative relationships with other Aerospace personnel supporting various operations.
  • Conduct independent analyses utilizing astrodynamics and sensor/system performance models.
  • Evaluate the implications of global space activities on U.S. national security operations and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Identify emerging areas of SDA concern and propose further research and data collection initiatives.
  • Mentor staff on space and missile intelligence topics.
  • Identify technical challenges where Aerospace can offer support.
  • Facilitate communication with personnel across various locations to leverage subject matter expertise.
  • Prepare technical documentation and presentations as necessary.
  • Be prepared for occasional non-standard working hours to support urgent operations.
  • Travel may be required for coordination with personnel and government agencies.

Qualifications for Success

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical or related discipline.
  • A minimum of 12 years of relevant experience.
  • A strong interest in global space operations.
  • Extensive operational experience within the space or intelligence sectors.
  • Familiarity with U.S. Air Force/Space Force operations.
  • Proven ability to synthesize and analyze information from diverse sources.
  • Understanding of astrodynamics and experience with analysis tools.
  • Self-motivated and capable of thriving in high-pressure environments.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Top Secret clearance with eligibility for additional accesses is required.
  • Willingness to undergo a government-administered polygraph test.

Preferred Qualifications

It would be advantageous to possess:

  • An advanced technical degree.
  • Basic programming skills in languages such as Python.
