About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Custodian (Full-Time) to join our team at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our hospital, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for our patients, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clean and maintain building interiors, following sanitary standards
  • Wash, wipe, dust, scrub, scour, disinfect, vacuum, sweep, mop, buff, and polish surfaces, floors, walls, windows, blinds, lavatories, mirrors, furnishings, and fabric
  • Dust and disinfect exam lights, viewing windows and ledges, phones canister and miscellaneous medical equipment
  • Clean and disinfect clinical work areas using special cleaning detergents and disinfectants, as well as special cleaning procedures, to prevent cross contamination and spread of diseases
  • Clean and disinfect animal holding wards, cage and runs, exam and treatment tables, gurneys, cabinets, and counters, and sinks to maintain sanitary conditions and prevent disease transmission, following special disinfection cleaning protocols (to include all the walls, cages, canisters, floors, trash and laundry bins, etc.) with disinfectant
  • Scrub and clean dirty dishes and restock
  • Deep clean hard floors and carpets
  • Collect, wash and dry soiled laundry onsite and return to proper unit
  • Fold and put away clean laundry
  • Stocking areas with animal care, custodial and medical supplies (such as, but not limited to pet food, cat litter, clean laundry, paper towels, soap, disinfectant, etc.)
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Cleaning experience in a commercial environment
  • The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States by the proposed start date; the department will not provide visa sponsorship for this position
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience providing custodial services in a medical environment
  • Operating knowledge of and experience with custodial equipment including vacuum cleaners, shampoo machines, wet/dry vacuums, floor scrubbing and/or polishing machines, buffing and/or other related cleaning operations
  • Knowledge of cleaning methods and cleaning products
  • Reliable with strong work ethic
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
