POSITION SUMMARY

As an Electro-Optical Assembler, you will engage in various assembly operations, focusing on the assembly of precision electro-optical semiconductor components, along with welding and soldering tasks performed under optical magnification. You will also adhere to established practices and procedures to operate leaded equipment effectively.

The Space & Sensors Division of L3Harris, based in Mason, Ohio, specializes in the design, development, and manufacturing of intricate systems (including electronic, avionics, transceivers, transmitters, electro-optical, and electro-mechanical components) for defense, aerospace, and commercial sectors. L3Harris is a recognized leader in Electro-Optical technologies that facilitate systems for surveillance, reconnaissance, threat detection, and self-protection missions. Our premier Space Avionics systems encompass equipment for Mars Rover/Landers/Orbiters, Launch Vehicles, and Imaging Satellite Communications.

Members of the Space & Sensors team bring their enthusiasm for innovation and engineering, along with a commitment to adapt, communicate, and deliver highly reliable mission-critical systems. We provide an alternative 9/80 work schedule with every other Friday off, along with opportunities to collaborate with a talented and diverse group of professionals. RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Execute assigned soldering processes as required (e.g., soldering components, configuring cabling, and wiring).
  • Contribute to group objectives for timely delivery.
  • Assemble mechanical and/or electrical components for customer deliverables.
  • Ensure adherence to the most current procedures.
  • Follow industry standards or practices for 6S.
  • Conduct torque training, hardware inspection, and mechanical assembly.
  • Perform crimping of cables using a variety of tools (e.g., hand crimping tools).
  • Assist in guiding peers to complete daily tasks.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience OR 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with at least 2 years of related experience.
  • Must be a United States Citizen.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Prolonged sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally.
  • Prolonged standing.
  • Capability to move between labs and within the lab environment.
  • Minimum of 2 years of effective communication experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • At least 2 years of proficient computer skills, including navigating email and Microsoft Office.
  • At least 2 years of experience in reading and interpreting drawings and work instructions.
  • At least 2 years of experience using basic hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wire strippers, etc.
  • At least 2 years of experience using a microscope for extended periods.
  • At least 2 years of experience in applying coatings on PWBs.
