Job Overview

The Healthcare Collections Coordinator plays a vital role in managing medical billing and accounts receivable processes for our Business Office.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct follow-ups on claims
  • Prioritize daily collection activities effectively
  • Review and process Insurance Explanation of Benefits (EOBs), including denied and rejected claims
  • Respond to denials and submit appeals promptly
  • Communicate with third-party payers to gather current account status
  • Determine necessary actions to secure timely third-party payments
  • Make necessary adjustments to patient account information to ensure prompt payment
  • Accurately document and relay patient information
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by management

Qualifications:
  • At least 1 year of experience in medical collections within a hospital or multi-specialty practice setting is required

Educational Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a medical collections specialist is required

Skills and Knowledge:
  • Familiarity with billing practices, including CPT codes and ICD10s
  • Proficient in electronic medical records (EMR) and practice management software
  • Strong understanding of payer guidelines and reimbursement policies
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Able to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team setting
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities
