The Salvation Army Eastern Territory
Our Finance Division is expanding, and we are seeking skilled Staff Accountants to join our team, focusing on the Accounts Receivable segment of accounting practices. The primary objective is to assist in managing the receipt and documentation of funds received by the organization. This role also entails ensuring the precision of invoices and adherence to proper accounting protocols for the acknowledgment of payments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process all incoming receipts through the accounts receivable system, ensuring compliance with organizational standards.
- Investigate discrepancies in A/R payments received versus billed amounts.
- Conduct reconciliations and liaise with funders and finance personnel to issue accurate invoices promptly.
- Execute daily electronic deposits utilizing the Cash Management System.
- Carry out periodic credit card processing as required.
- Perform bank reconciliations and ensure donation records align with finance records.
- Assist in preparing documentation for external audits and interact with external auditors as necessary.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts to maintain accurate account balances and comply with relevant policies and regulations.
- Stay informed about changes in grant requirements and reporting structures.
- Contribute to the preparation of the agency's budget and financial statements.
- Exhibit cultural competence and integrate this understanding into daily responsibilities, contributing to the objectives of The Salvation Army Eastern Territory's Strategic Plan.
Qualifications:
Associate's Degree with three to five years of experience in an accounting-related field or equivalent experience is required; a Bachelor's degree is preferred.
Ability to work with minimal supervision, adhering to standard accounting practices and principles (GAAP).
Proficiency in spreadsheet software (e.g., Excel) is necessary.
Experience with computerized accounting systems is essential.
