Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital is recognized as a premier Stroke center, featuring a certified Neuroscience unit dedicated to addressing a variety of conditions such as Stroke, spinal injuries, head trauma, and surgical interventions.

Our proficient nursing staff is trained in NIHSS assessment and completes the Georgia stroke curriculum.

This vibrant inpatient unit supports patients throughout their recovery process.

The Neuroscience team is bolstered by a diverse group of professionals, including a Stroke Coordinator, Physical and Occupational Therapists, Respiratory Therapy, Physicians, and Case Management.


Our comprehensive orientation program pairs both new and seasoned staff with experienced preceptors to establish objectives and provide training, ensuring a successful integration into the Neuroscience Team.

Nurses in the Neuroscience unit deliver exceptional patient care by adhering to nursing processes for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in line with organizational policies.

The staff nurse maintains practice standards, coordinates patient care activities, and is committed to excellence in nursing care delivery.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Delivering nursing care to patients across all age groups using established protocols
  • Maintaining practice standards and coordinating patient care activities
QUALIFICATIONS:

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Graduate of an accredited nursing program

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
New graduates of a nursing program are welcome to apply

MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:
Current Registered Nurse License in the State of Georgia or NLC/eNLC Multistate License.
BLS certification is mandatory.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

For PRN Positions:

  • One year of nursing experience in a hospital environment is preferred
  • A Bachelor's degree is preferred
  • Advanced certification in the specialty field, if applicable
