Position Overview
The External Relations (ER) department encompasses three key areas: Private Fundraising, Communications, and Advocacy. The primary aim of this department is to equip our organization, which employs over 15,000 individuals, with the necessary resources to continue serving 18 million people worldwide in regions impacted by conflict and disaster.

The Philanthropy unit, a vital part of the ER department, focuses on engaging with High-Net-Worth Individuals. Within the USA Philanthropy division, the Principal Giving East team strives to enhance private individual contributions to the IRC by engaging, cultivating, soliciting, and managing significant multi-year commitments from ultra-high net worth supporters located in the eastern United States.

The Director of Principal Giving East will provide strategic leadership and management to a team of fundraisers tasked with securing philanthropic support from high-net-worth individuals. This role requires an entrepreneurial spirit, a passion for mentorship, and a proven track record of successfully closing substantial gifts.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and inspire a team of frontline fundraisers, fostering an environment that encourages innovative approaches to donor relationship management.
- Provide effective thought leadership to enhance the Principal Giving East team's efforts in generating financial support and private sector engagement.
- Develop and oversee strategies for cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding a growing portfolio of major donors and prospects, ensuring consistent communication and tracking progress using CRM tools.
- Collaborate with senior leadership and program staff to create compelling cases for philanthropic investment opportunities.
- Partner with the Senior Director to formulate a strategic plan with clear annual goals and outcomes for the team.

Candidate Qualifications
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in non-profit fundraising, particularly with ultra-high net worth individuals.
- Proven ability to manage and empower frontline fundraisers effectively.
- Demonstrated success in securing significant gifts and developing multi-year funding opportunities.
- Exceptional communication skills, including writing and verbal presentation abilities.
- Strong analytical skills and experience with CRM systems.
