Key Responsibilities and Professional Expectations:

In the absence of Nursing Administration, act as the primary nursing administrator on-site to support hospital operations.
Assist team members in resolving issues to ensure that patient care requirements are fulfilled.
Facilitate communication with on-call personnel as necessary during evenings, nights, and weekends.
Collaborate with Social Work and Pastoral Services to provide support to families.
Report any unusual or concerning incidents to Security and/or the Administrator on Call (AOC).

In partnership with Nurse Directors, oversee clinical practices.
Continuously assess staffing requirements to ensure optimal resource allocation while maintaining effective staff utilization to enhance patient care outcomes.
Provide clinical support to staff to guarantee the delivery of high-quality care to patients and families.
Engage in the support and supervision of staff during evenings, nights, and weekends.
Serve as a resource for nursing practices, demonstrating knowledge of nursing standards, policies, and procedures.
Collaborate with charge nurses and clinical coordinators as needed to make informed nursing decisions regarding staff allocation.

Participate in Process Improvement and Policy Development.
Support the implementation of clinical practices and assist in evaluating their effectiveness to ensure that practice changes are successfully adopted.
Identify and share best practices across the department.
Encourage a blame-free environment to address actual or potential safety concerns.
Actively engage in the leadership of Nursing Administration to achieve departmental goals.
Serve on hospital committees.
Collaborate with supervisors and staff from all departments to promote rapid response and effective problem-solving as needed.
Review policy and procedure updates from the organization and Directors.
Contribute to the achievement of departmental and organizational goals annually.
Participate in team projects and initiatives.

Adhere to departmental cost control measures: Monitor the use of supplies and equipment to minimize waste and misuse.

Report any unsafe, unsecured, or unclean conditions to the appropriate department heads.

Maintain knowledge of all regulatory requirements and monitor compliance.
Collaborate with Patient Access, Physicians, and Charge/Clinical Coordinators to ensure efficient patient placement.
Coordinate with external agencies, hospitals, and clinics regarding patient transfers.

Provide administrative problem-solving support during evenings, nights, and weekends to ensure smooth facility operations and optimal patient safety.

Notify the Administrator on Call for resource-related problem-solving and communication of significant events during these hours.
Assume a leadership role in emergency preparedness responses.


Represent nursing leadership in addressing staff or guest relations.
Respond promptly and positively to patients, families, colleagues, and others in a respectful and confidential manner.

Welcome patients, families, and colleagues in a calm, professional, and friendly manner, making eye contact and introducing oneself.
Ensure a clean, safe, quiet, and secure environment for patients, families, and staff.

Serve as a positive professional role model.
Maintain identifiable and professional attire, including name badges.
Answer phone calls promptly.
Keep personal and work areas organized and tidy.

Actively participate in staff meetings, committees, projects, and teams to resolve conflicts and achieve institutional goals and strategic plans.

Attend staff meetings as required.
Identify personal learning needs and pursue necessary education to fulfill job requirements.
Complete mandatory education programs and submit documentation of all work-related training.
Review learning needs with the director to establish individual education and development goals annually.

Education and Experience Requirements:
Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university is preferred.
A minimum of three years of nursing experience demonstrating leadership capabilities.
Two years of pediatric nursing experience is preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Current licensure in the State of Texas.
Certification in Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
Certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).

Advanced practice national examination required:
CPN,
RNC
Completion of organizational orientation course.
