Tax Compliance Specialist

The Tax Compliance Representative will provide answers to internal and external customers' tax compliance inquiries, involving complex and sensitive issues. The incumbent will work under the close supervision of a Tax Administrator I and will be responsible for providing technical assistance and guidance to the Taxpayer Assistance Center (TAC) as a lead. The Tax Compliance Representative will also review work assignments completed by all levels of Program Technician (PT) staff for accuracy and completeness.
Key Responsibilities- Respond to telephone inquiries from the general public and respond to complex Internet advisory and elevated e-mail workloads to assist taxpayers in complying with laws and collecting taxes and over-payments.
- Communicate effectively with employers, staff, and management.
- Participate in special projects and assignments, serve on various committees, and process improvement groups.
- Act as a technical resource person and provide guidance for the TAC staff and management team regarding complex tax or status-related issues.
- Perform complex account adjustments and accounts status determination requests received from external customers, field offices, and other Tax Branch employees.
- Fluency in the Spanish language is required.
- Ability to pass a bilingual-Spanish fluency examination.
- Ability to work in a hybrid work schedule.
This position is headquartered in Rancho Cordova and may be eligible for telework under EDD's telework policy. California Government Code Section 14200 requires employees to reside in California to telecommute. Employees are required to report to their headquarters office, as needed. Travel expenses to and from the assigned headquarters are the responsibility of the employee.
