At KPMG, we're seeking a Senior Manager to join our State and Local Tax (SALT) practice. As a key member of our team, you'll assist multi-state companies with state and local tax issues, including compliance, advising, planning, structuring, and controversies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist multi-state companies with state and local tax issues, including compliance, advising, planning, structuring, and controversies.
  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide relevant subject matter and industry knowledge and experience to internal and external clients.
  • Review information presented on state income tax returns before, during, and after preparation.
  • Research and draft technical memoranda or slide decks regarding income, franchise, sales, and use tax, and other state and local tax questions.
  • Support multi-state companies with state and local tax controversies, including preparing clients for discussions with auditors, representing the client at hearings and appeal meetings, and preparing protests.
  • Help KPMG audit teams with review and analysis of state tax-related income and balance sheet items; build and manage client relationships; supervise, mentor, and develop staff.

Requirements:
  • Minimum eight years of recent experience performing tax research, reviewing state income tax returns, and providing technical advice on multi-state tax issues specific to the asset management industry.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university; licensed CPA, EA, JD/LLM, or MTX, in addition to others on KPMG's approved credential listing.
  • Ability to develop business and foster relationships both internally and with clients.
  • Demonstrated capacity to lead teams delivering state and local income tax compliance and/or consulting services.
  • Capability and desire to perform in a high-energy team environment.
  • Excellent writing, compliance, communication, management, and tax research skills.
