About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Registered Nurse Resident to join our team at US Oncology, Inc. as a Gulf RN Resident. This is an exciting opportunity for a new graduate Registered Nurse to develop their skills and knowledge in oncology nursing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide professional nursing care for patients adhering to national and company standards and guidelines for specialty regulations.
  • Recognize physical, psychological, and spiritual aspects of care and participate in company-wide quality initiatives.
  • Support and adhere to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate, and promote the continuity of care consistent with established standards and practices.
  • Prepare and administer therapies under the direction and supervision of a physician.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Follow OSHA guidelines when handling cytotoxic agents, biohazardous waste, and any other material potentially infected with a blood-borne pathogen.
  • Facilitate clinical operations and patient care, including scheduling consultations, pre-testing, diagnostic tests or procedures, referrals, and future appointments for patients.
  • Triage patient phone calls as needed and document relevant information in the patient's chart.
  • Interact with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care.
  • Act as a resource to LPN/LVNs and medical assistants.
  • Participate in professional development activities and maintain current knowledge of oncology nursing by participating in ongoing educational opportunities.
Qualifications
  • Completed graduation from an accredited program for professional nursing education within three years prior to the start of the residency program.
  • Current BCLS (Basic Cardiac and Life Support) certification required.
  • RN state license with the State Board of Nursing in the practicing state is required by the end of the residency program to be hired on into a permanent position.
  • Experience and knowledge of the purpose and use of medications in the treatment of cancer is preferred.
