Heavy Equipment Operator

The Heavy Equipment Operator will be responsible for operating heavy equipment to meet railroad construction project requirements. This position will also assist in manual labor work to support the crew. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, ability to learn, and willingness to take direction and receive feedback.
Key Responsibilities:
Effectively operate heavy equipment required to meet railroad construction project requirements.
Adhere to all safety policies/procedures, wear appropriate PPE, and complete all necessary training required.
Comply with Company safety rules & regulations as well as have a working knowledge of OSHA safety regulations; FRA safety regulations and understanding of technical developments effecting workplace safety.
Perform preventative & general maintenance to all equipment.
Assist with manual labor on job site as needed to complete project work.
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Must possess a valid Class C driver's license.
Must have a minimum of one year of CDL drivers' experience.
Previous experience in railroad crew operations or heavy civil construction.
Must be able to pass a pre-offer drug test and will be subject to FRA random drug testing.
Attention to detail is required and good communication skills.
One or more years of heavy highway or railroad construction preferred but not required.
Working knowledge of and familiarity with general construction site safety requirements.
Ability to perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot problems with equipment.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and federal and state regulation.
Experience with heavy hand tools, and previous work in an outside environment preferred.
Safety Responsibilities:
Safety protocols are extremely important to follow.
Follow all safety training and procedures displaying clear understanding through demonstration of safe work practices.
Refer to and comply with instructions, requests, orders, and information posted within bulletands, memorandums, rules and regulatory guidance/manuals.
Must be able to complete and pass requirements for background check and drug screening.
Ability to obtain eRailSafe badge approval required.
