Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Executive Director to lead our Development Communications team. This individual will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic communications plans to engage benefactors and support fundraising efforts. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in communications, fundraising, and leadership, with a proven track record of success in driving results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strategic communications plans to engage benefactors and support fundraising efforts
  • Lead a multifunctional team to establish and advance communications best practices for benefactor qualification, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, recognition, and events
  • Embrace innovation and a multichannel, multimedia approach for benefactor engagement across in-person, digital, and print experiences
  • Build consensus among stakeholders and partnering teams for new solutions that achieve a high touch and/or scalability based on business needs
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and career development to staff, and exhibit Mayo's leadership model capabilities in inspiring values, engaging colleagues, bold and forward thinking, and driving results
  • Serve as an expert in the field of Development Communications and be a trusted advisor to senior leaders, physicians, researchers, and administrators
  • Proactively manage complex projects and lead continuous improvement
  • Demonstrate willingness and ability to manage change cross-functionally and help the team navigate ambiguity
  • Conduct annual planning and have a keen understanding of the external environment, target audiences, and business needs to develop and measure strategic communications plans, as well as supporting processes and systems
  • Coordinate and collaborate extensively across Mayo Clinic to ensure positive results
Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in a related field, which may include liberal arts, business, communications, marketing, healthcare, or a similar field, and 10 years' professional experience in the field of communications, fundraising, or marketing, with at least three years' experience leading and managing high-performing teams, or a Master's degree in a related field and 8 years' professional experience in the field of communications, fundraising, or marketing, with at least three years' experience leading and managing high-performing teams.
