Job Summary

Proficient in the operation of complex and specialized heavy construction equipment, utilized for the maintenance and construction of County roads and city projects. Strong knowledge of equipment operation, safety standards, and maintenance procedures are essential for this role. We are seeking an experienced and skilled Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team at Tarrant County.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate various types of complex, specialized/heavy equipment.
  • Perform road maintenance and construction tasks while operating equipment.
  • Transport equipment and supplies to and from the job site.
  • Ensure implementation and maintenance of traffic control standards at the work site.
  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment and report needed repairs.
  • Maintain job site safety standards.
  • May develop work schedules and evaluate lower-level employees.
  • May order supplies.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

A High School diploma or GED is required, along with three (3) full-time years of related work experience, or seven (7) full-time years of related work experience. A Class A CDL is required upon hire, and a tanker endorsement is required within thirty (30) days of hire. Advanced knowledge of equipment operation and maintenance is also necessary.
