Position Summary: The Senior Process Engineer plays a crucial role in the erection, commissioning, and initiation of SCR Projects as required. This individual should possess comprehensive knowledge of all major subsystems associated with copper and aluminum rod mills utilized by Southwire's clientele.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the installation and initiation of SCR systems.
- Act as a site engineer, engineering coordinator, and start-up engineer for systems.
- Innovate new equipment and methodologies, including the selection and assessment of hardware and software.
- Facilitate the transfer of operational knowledge to SCR customers through training, publications, discussions, presentations, and other communication methods.
- Utilize extensive experience with SCR to train new employees on the SCR process.
- Propose enhancements for SCR equipment and processes.
- Address a variety of technical inquiries from existing and prospective SCR customers, as well as new employees.
- Generate daily progress reports during start-ups and field service visits.
- Compose trip reports following customer engagements.
Required Skills:
- Proficient in conveying design information from various documents, including vendor and SCR drawings, operating manuals, and maintenance/operation manuals.
- Focused approach towards the successful completion of projects.
- Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability to rapidly changing requirements due to the diverse nature of tasks and personalities encountered.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD is beneficial, although not mandatory; willingness to learn is desired.
Educational Background:
A Bachelor of Science degree in industrial, electrical, mechanical, or chemical engineering is essential, along with knowledge of mechanical or chemical engineering and process engineering.
Travel Requirements:
This position necessitates international travel, potentially up to 50%, for extended periods.
Supervision:
Minimal supervision is required to manage the diverse range of tasks associated with this role.
Documentation and Reporting:
Ability to manage extensive project documentation and write procedures and manuals, along with the capacity to recall, locate, summarize, and communicate answers to inquiries from SCR customers.
