Harrison Steel Castings Co. is seeking a dedicated Lab Technician to join our first shift team. This role is essential in conducting metallurgical evaluations to ensure that our metal products meet stringent specifications and quality benchmarks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare test specimens and conduct spectrometer and Leco Carbon analyses on steel and nodular iron samples.
  • Communicate findings to the Melting Department to facilitate necessary adjustments and prepare heats.
  • Calibrate and maintain the spectrometer and carbon analyzer, ensuring optimal performance.
  • Execute chemical analyses utilizing the spectrometer and/or carbon analyzer.
  • Collect and process final chemical test samples from the foundry for each heat, including grinding, brushing, stamping, cutting, and fine grinding.
  • Prepare keel black legs and other test coupons for testing or further heat treatment as directed.
  • Prepare and polish micro specimens for analysis.
  • Prepare samples for macro etching and conduct etching procedures.

Work Environment:

This position involves exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and hazardous chemicals. Occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions, electrical hazards, and vibrations may occur. The noise level in the workplace is typically moderate.
