Job Summary

Actalent is seeking a skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our team in Washington, D.C. as a fully on-site position in a hospital setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Pharmacist in preparing and dispensing medications to patients, performing technical functions to facilitate pharmacy operations.
  • Under the supervision of the licensed Pharmacist, prepare oral, topical, and parenteral medications for dispensing, including selecting, labeling, and packaging pharmaceuticals.
  • Enter physician orders into the hospital computer system to update patient profiles and charges.
  • Assist patients, nurses, physicians, and others with medication order requests and pharmacy-related needs.
  • Monitor stock inventory levels and medication expiration dates, replenishing medications as needed.
  • Fill and replace medications in automated medication dispensing machines and transport to nursing units.
  • Prepare IV admixtures using aseptic techniques, including STATs, parenteral nutrition bags, and cytotoxic agents.
  • Deliver and retrieve medications, including narcotics, and pharmacy supplies to/from patient care and satellite pharmacy areas.
  • Compound products in bulk or per individual order, and prepare private stock orders and individual unit-of-use packaging.
  • Complete and maintain controlled substance inventory log/records.
  • Perform all pharmacy technician duties in all pharmacy locations, including the OR pharmacy, and assist in orienting new Pharmacy Technicians and students.
Requirements
  • DC Pharmacy Technician License Required
  • At least 1 year of pharmacy technician experience
  • Hospital Experience preferred but not required

This is a Monday-Friday position with every other weekend.
