Lead IT Systems Engineer

The RoleWe are seeking a highly skilled Linux Engineer to join our team as a Lead IT Systems Engineer. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise-level Linux systems, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
Main Responsibilities- Design and implement Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems, including configuration, testing, and integration.
- Lead technical projects from research to implementation, ensuring timely and successful delivery.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including test plans, test reports, and implementation plans.
- Perform server infrastructure analysis and improvement, ensuring optimal performance and security.
- Provide advanced Tier III support for geographically separated network operations centers.
- Ensure systems meet Information Assurance standards by testing and implementing security updates.
- Administer appliances, such as McAfee ePO, RSA, Veritas NetBackup, and Unitrends Backup.
- Assist with the administration and maintenance of MS Windows Server, MS System Center Suite, MS SQL, MS Exchange, Solarwinds, and Remedy.
- Expertise with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7/8/9.
- Experience with Windows Server 2016/2019/2022.
- Experience with VMWare and Hyper-V Virtualization.
- Proficiency with High Availability administration.
- Proficiency with SQL DB Administration.
- Understanding of balancing security risk, cost, and delivery requirements.
- Strong technical skills and understanding of information systems, network protocols, firewalls, intrusion prevention systems, log management, network behavior analysis, vulnerability scan tools, and processes.
- Ability to provide proactive status updates and estimate the level of effort for future work.
- Understanding of patch compliance and system audit data.
- Strong critical thinking and ability to work in a collaborative environment with multiple disciplines.
- Previous experience in systems security and hardening.
- Bachelor's degree in an IT-related field and at least six years of experience in enterprise network design.
- 10 years of experience in lieu of degree.
- DoD IAT Level II requirements (Security+ CE, GICSP, GSEC, CND, SSCP).
- RHCA desired.
- CISSP desired.
- MCSA/MCSE a plus.
- TS/SCI security clearance required.
- Occasional travel to customer locations for meetings.
The starting salary for this role differs based on the employee's primary work location. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual's qualifications.
Location-based pay ranges: $109,330 - $145,770.
As with the pay range variety that's based on the region of a country, specific offers are determined by various factors such as experience, education, skills, certifications, and other business needs.
