The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Linux Engineer to join our team as a lead Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems engineer. This is a critical role that requires expertise in all aspects of systems engineering and integration, including requirements analysis, design, testing, implementation, and validation in an enterprise server environment.

Main Responsibilities
  • Administer and maintain Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems, including all applications hosted in RHEL.
  • Install, configure, test, and integrate new RHEL systems.
  • Lead technical projects from research to implementation, including feasibility assessment, design, procurement, lab testing, and evaluation.
  • Create technical documents, including test plans, test reports, implementation plans, and white papers.
  • Analyze and improve server infrastructure.
  • Monitor and optimize system performance.
  • Provide advanced Tier III support for geographically separated network operations centers.
  • Ensure systems meet Information Assurance standards by testing and implementing security updates, conducting ACAS and SCAP scans.
  • Administer appliances, such as McAfee ePO, RSA, Veritas NetBackup, and Unitrends Backup appliances.
  • Assist with the administration and maintenance of MS Windows Server, MS System Center Suite, MS SQL, MS Exchange, Solarwinds, and Remedy.
Requirements
  • Expertise with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7/8/9.
  • Experience with Windows Server 2016/2019/2022.
  • Experience with VMWare and Hyper-V Virtualization.
  • Proficiency with High Availability administration.
  • Proficiency with SQL DB Administration.
  • Understanding of balancing security risk, cost, and delivery requirements.
  • Strong technical skills and understanding of information systems, network protocols, firewalls, intrusion prevention systems, log management, network behavior analysis, vulnerability scan tools, and processes.
  • Ability to provide proactive status updates and estimate the level of effort for future work.
  • Understanding of patch compliance and system audit data.
  • Strong critical thinking and ability to work in a collaborative environment with multiple disciplines.
  • Previous experience in systems security and hardening.
Preferred Qualifications
  • DoD IAT Level II requirements (Security+ CE, GICSP, GSEC, CND, SSCP).
  • RHCA desired.
  • CISSP desired.
  • MCSA/MCSE a plus.
Education or Equivalent Experience

Bachelor's degree in an IT-related field and at least six years of experience in enterprise network design. 10 years of experience in lieu of degree.

Other Requirements
  • TS/SCI security clearance required.
  • Occasional travel to customer locations for meetings.
