Lead IT Systems Engineer

The RoleWe are seeking a highly skilled Linux Engineer to join our team as a Lead IT Systems Engineer. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise server environments, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems.
Main Responsibilities- Administer and maintain Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems, including all applications hosted in RHEL.
- Install, configure, test, and integrate new RHEL systems.
- Lead technical projects from research to implementation, including feasibility assessment, design, procurement, lab testing, and evaluation.
- Create technical documents, including test plans, test reports, implementation plans, and white papers.
- Analyze and improve server infrastructure, monitor performance, and optimize systems.
- Provide advanced Tier III support for geographically separated network operations centers.
- Ensure systems meet Information Assurance standards by testing and implementing security updates, conducting ACAS and SCAP scans.
- Administer appliances, such as McAfee ePO, RSA, Veritas NetBackup, and Unitrends Backup appliances.
- Assist with the administration and maintenance of MS Windows Server, MS System Center Suite, MS SQL, MS Exchange, Solarwinds, and Remedy.
- Expertise with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7/8/9.
- Experience with Windows Server 2016/2019/2022.
- Experience with VMWare and Hyper-V Virtualization.
- Proficiency with High Availability administration.
- Proficiency with SQL DB Administration.
- Understanding of balancing security risk, cost, and delivery requirements.
- Strong technical skills and understanding of information systems, network protocols, firewalls, intrusion prevention systems, log management, network behavior analysis, vulnerability scan tools, and processes.
- Ability to provide proactive status updates and estimate the level of effort for future work.
- Understanding of patch compliance and system audit data.
- Strong critical thinking and ability to work in a collaborative environment with multiple disciplines.
- Previous experience in systems security and hardening.
- Technical certifications, including DoD IAT Level II requirements, RHCA, and CISSP.
- Bachelor's degree in an IT-related field and at least six years of experience in enterprise network design.
