The Role

We're seeking a highly skilled Linux Engineer to join our team as the lead Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems engineer within the enterprise. This role requires expertise in all aspects of systems engineering and integration, including requirements analysis, design, testing, implementation, and validation in an enterprise server environment.

Main Responsibilities
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux administration and maintenance, including all applications hosted in RHEL.
  • New RHEL systems installation, configuration, testing, and integration.
  • Lead technical projects through their entirety, from research to implementation and transition to the operational environment.
  • Create technical documents, including test plans, test reports, implementation plans, and white papers.
  • Server infrastructure analysis and improvement.
  • Performance monitoring and optimization.
  • Provide advanced Tier III support for geographically separated network operations centers.
  • Ensure systems are within Information Assurance standards by testing and implementing security updates, conducting Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) and Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP) scans.
  • Administer appliances, such as McAfee ePO, RSA, Veritas NetBackup, Unitrends Backup appliances.
  • Assist with the administration and maintenance of MS Windows Server, MS System Center Suite (SCOM/SCCM/SCVMM), MS SQL, MS Exchange, Solarwinds, Remedy.
What We Look For in a Candidate
  • Expertise with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7/8/9.
  • Experience with Windows Server 2016/2019/2022.
  • Experience with VMWare and Hyper-V Virtualization.
  • Proficiency with High Availability administration.
  • Proficiency with SQL DB Administration.
  • Understanding of balancing security risk, cost, and delivery requirements.
  • Strong technical skills and understanding of information systems, network protocols, firewalls, intrusion prevention systems, log management, network behavior analysis, vulnerability scan tools, and processes.
  • Ability to provide proactive status of assigned work and estimate the level of effort for future work.
  • Understanding of patch compliance and system audit data.
  • Strong critical thinking and ability to work in a collaborative environment with multiple disciplines.
  • Previous experience in systems security and hardening.
Technical Certifications
  • DoD IAT Level II requirements (Security+ CE, GICSP, GSEC, CND, SSCP).
  • RHCA desired.
  • CISSP desired.
  • MCSA/MCSE a plus.
Education or Equivalent Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in an IT-related field and at least six years of experience in enterprise network design.
  • 10 years of experience in lieu of degree.
Other Requirements
  • TS/SCI security clearance required.
  • Occasional travel to customer locations for meetings.
