Position Summary

As a Wind Field Troubleshooting Technician, your primary responsibility will be to assist the Wind operating fleet in various operational aspects, with a strong emphasis on in-field diagnostics and restoration efforts. This role requires collaboration with site teams to ensure turbines are returned to operational status while mentoring junior technicians in troubleshooting methodologies. This position involves extensive travel, requiring four weeks on-site followed by one week off.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Travel across the U.S. to support both Invenergy-owned and third-party contracted sites, focusing on advanced troubleshooting, pilot program initiatives, and complex repairs.
  • Diagnose issues and perform repairs safely and efficiently.
  • Participate in pilot projects aimed at assessing new equipment, tools, and processes.
  • Assist in managing deliverables and contractual obligations while liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement operational procedures that align with company, customer, and industry standards, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations.
  • Support High Voltage switching as required.
  • Identify and communicate opportunities for operational and quality enhancements.
  • Gather, compile, and analyze data to determine appropriate actions for proactive and reactive maintenance and repairs.
  • Exhibit a high level of professionalism and technical knowledge while working independently.
  • Lead and collaborate with technicians in fulfilling their operational and contractual responsibilities at each site.
  • Conduct on-the-job training for site technicians.
  • Evaluate and oversee contractor work scope and repairs related to equipment restoration.
  • Perform quality assurance and quality control inspections across the fleet, providing feedback on best practices and areas for improvement.
  • Efficiently manage personal travel logistics.
  • This is a rotational position requiring travel in four-week intervals away from home, followed by a week off.
Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven troubleshooting skills with a minimum of two years of experience working with GE wind turbines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Experience with high-voltage tools and personal protective equipment.
  • Familiarity with equipment software, including GE Toolbox ST, GE Webpages, SCADA, Visu-pro, and CMS systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • One year of specific experience with 2X systems is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions, climb ladders without assistance, and work at heights exceeding 80 meters (250 feet).
  • Capability to lift and move up to 45 kg (100 pounds).
  • Weight must not exceed 120 kg (265 lbs.), excluding equipment/gear worn during job-related tasks.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.
