Construction Estimator Job Description

**About the Role**

We are seeking a skilled Construction Estimator to join our team at Jobot. As a Construction Estimator, you will play a crucial role in the success of our construction projects. Your primary responsibility will be to provide accurate and competitive cost estimates for various construction projects, from the initial concept to the final design.

**Key Responsibilities**

* Prepare detailed cost estimates by analyzing plans and specifications and performing quantity take-offs for all cost categories.
* Conduct thorough risk and opportunity analyses for each estimate.
* Review and evaluate project-specific cost factors (i.e., location, duration, productivity, etc.).
* Generate project schedules and assist in the preparation of construction schedules.
* Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure comprehensive bid coverage.
* Coordinate with project management teams to ensure estimates are accurate and reflect the project scope.
* Participate in the presentation of estimates to company management and clients.
* Stay updated with the latest industry trends, material costs, and price fluctuations.
* Use advanced Microsoft Excel skills to develop and maintain cost databases and spreadsheets.
* Evaluate bids, budgets, and cost analyses effectively.

**Requirements**

* Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
* 5-7+ years of experience in construction estimating, with a solid understanding of construction means and methods, accounting, and document organization.
* Ability to read and understand all types of construction drawings and documents.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
* Experience in blueprint reading is essential.
* Strong budgeting and bid evaluation skills.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
* Ability to work effectively in a team environment, as well as independently when required.
