Position Summary:
Fort Myers Broadcasting Co is in search of a skilled and dedicated Television News Photographer to enhance our vibrant news team. The successful candidate will possess a strong ability to narrate stories visually, coupled with a passion for capturing striking imagery in a fast-paced news setting.

This role demands a solid grasp of broadcast journalism principles, exceptional technical expertise, and a dedication to delivering high-caliber news content.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Capture high-quality video for daily news segments, special features, and in-depth reports.
  • Collaborate closely with reporters, producers, and other newsroom personnel to ensure visual elements support the overarching narrative.
  • Edit video content creatively and efficiently to adhere to strict deadlines.
  • Operate and maintain camera systems, lighting, and audio equipment to guarantee optimal functionality.
  • Conduct live broadcasts and on-site shoots, often under challenging time constraints and varying environmental conditions.
  • Ensure all video materials comply with Fort Myers Broadcasting Co standards for precision, clarity, and visual impact.
  • Work with the newsroom team to brainstorm and implement innovative visual storytelling concepts.

Required Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience as a television news photographer or in a comparable role within a broadcast environment.
  • Proficiency in operating professional video cameras and editing software.
  • Strong visual storytelling capabilities with an acute attention to detail and composition.
  • Ability to perform efficiently under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Willingness to work various shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Capability to lift and transport heavy equipment as necessary.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or a related discipline.
  • At least two years of experience as a television news photographer.
  • Familiarity with live broadcasting and conducting live shots.
  • Knowledge of drone operation and FAA certification is advantageous.
