This role demands a comprehensive understanding of broadcast journalism, superior technical abilities, and a commitment to delivering top-notch news content.
Core Responsibilities:
- Capture high-quality video for daily news segments, special features, and in-depth reports.
- Collaborate closely with reporters, producers, and other newsroom personnel to ensure visual content aligns with storytelling objectives.
- Edit video footage with creativity and efficiency to adhere to strict deadlines.
- Operate and maintain camera systems, lighting, and audio equipment to guarantee peak performance.
- Conduct live shots and on-site recordings, often under pressing time constraints and varying environmental conditions.
- Ensure all video materials meet the standards for accuracy, clarity, and visual appeal.
- Work with the newsroom team to brainstorm and implement innovative visual storytelling concepts.
Required Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience as a television news photographer or in a comparable role within a broadcast news setting.
- Proficiency in operating professional video cameras and editing software.
- Strong visual storytelling capabilities with a meticulous eye for detail and composition.
- Ability to perform effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to work various shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Capability to lift and transport heavy equipment as necessary.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or a related discipline.
- At least two years of experience as a television news photographer.
- Familiarity with live broadcasting and conducting live shots.
- Knowledge of drone operation and FAA certification is advantageous.
