The Commonwealth of Virginia is a premier, urban, public research university nationally recognized as one of the best employers for diversity. We are seeking adjunct faculty to teach courses in the areas of Writing, Creative Writing, Linguistics, Literature, and Film within our esteemed English Department.

About the Opportunity

This pool will be utilized on an as-needed basis for course sections through June 30, 2024. Your application will remain active until this date, allowing you to resubmit your application for subsequent years beginning July 1, 2023. Only those selected for an interview will be contacted.

Responsibilities
  • Meet all designated course instruction guidelines.
  • Grade assignments and exams promptly based on instructions/rubric provided.
  • Respond to student inquiries within 24 hours.
  • Submit final grades according to College/Department policy.
Requirements
  • A Master's degree in a related field with experience and specialized expertise directly related to the position.
  • Demonstrated experience working in or fostering a diverse environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • A Ph.D. or another doctoral degree in a related discipline or directly related to the position is highly preferred.
  • Previous experience teaching courses within the Department of English curriculum.
  • Demonstrated teaching experience.

We estimate that the estimated salary range for this position is around $60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
