As a Technology Solutions Specialist within the IT division at Irving Oil, your key role will involve engaging with vendors and partners to facilitate the implementation and maintenance of site setups for dealer settlement. This position allows for remote work, where you will provide technical support for Retail and Fleet site technologies. Your responsibilities will include diagnosing retail component challenges, applying your customer service expertise and urgency to resolve issues effectively. A solid understanding of networking will be essential as you collaborate with a team to establish and maintain network infrastructure. This position requires flexibility in shifts, including rotational on-call duties and after-hours availability, along with occasional travel.

Your Duties:
  • Basic understanding of hardware and/or software.
  • Foundational knowledge of databases.
  • A readiness to embrace new technologies.
  • A proactive, solution-oriented attitude towards troubleshooting.
  • Training site personnel on utilizing new technologies.
  • The ability to influence stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Overseeing software licensing, hardware distribution, and related upgrades.
  • Logging, tracking, troubleshooting, and resolving open tickets through incident management systems.
  • Supporting onboarding and changes for retail and fleet sites in collaboration with Merchant Service Providers and internal teams.
  • Maintaining database tables for Retail and Fleet locations, including file types, promotions, fees, and analyzing rejections within Irving Applications.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours as needed.
Your Qualifications:
  • Strong capability to collaborate as part of a team, network, and build relationships.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of networking principles.
  • A customer service-oriented mindset and a constructive approach to problem-solving.
  • Openness to learning new technologies.
Your Background:
  • Post-secondary education in Business, IT, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in an IT team is advantageous.
  • Experience in Retail IT is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with database maintenance is a plus.
  • Experience with POS (point-of-sale) systems and fuel POS technology is advantageous.
