The Hermitage Club at Haystack Mountain in Wilmington, VT is seeking new and uncertified Ski/Snowboard Instructors to join our team for the upcoming winter season. This opportunity offers a minimum 10-day commitment, competitive compensation, and flexible scheduling.
Compensation and BenefitsWe offer:
- Hourly pay rates starting at $18/hr for new and non-certified instructors, increasing for certifications from $22-$60/hr
- A 15% Auto-Gratuity for all lessons worked
- Paid training at $15/hr, regularly occurring on Friday's and Sunday afternoons
- Reimbursement programs for attaining professional certification
The Hermitage Club is a 501.c7 non-profit private social club and ski area. We value skilled instructors who share our vision of creating a lifelong passion for skiing and snowboarding. Our Instructor compensation recognizes the dedication and education required to attain top-level certification.
Lesson ProgramsWe offer a variety of lesson programs, including:
- Mountain Yeti's Seasonal Program for ages 3-6
- Mountain Explorers Seasonal Program for ages 7-12
- Daily Private and Group Lessons for all ages and abilities
- Adaptive Private Lessons
- Race Programs
After an orientation period and on-the-job-training, the successful candidate will be expected to:
- Ski/Snowboard at an Intermediate/Advanced level
- Provide care and supervision for individuals and groups of students
- Develop lesson plans for individuals and groups of students in a collaborative environment
- Provide a learning environment that is safe and fun, utilizing various teaching methods, techniques, and demonstrations in a variety of weather conditions
- Clearly and accurately provide instruction and feedback using verbal and non-verbal communication
- Develop relationships with students based on trust and two-way communication
- Follow and implement policies and procedures of the Hermitage Club
- Remain up to date with current trends within the teaching/coaching community
- Participate in professional development training
- Assist with roles and responsibilities required to perform the duties of the Ski and Snowboard School
The successful candidate must:
- Pass a background check and work with children
- Be fluent in English, both verbal and written
- Be able to communicate effectively to groups, individuals, guests, and co-workers
- Work well in a team environment
- Work weekends and holidays
- Adhere to Hermitage Members Club policy for wearing an approved helmet at all times while teaching in terrain parks and trees
The successful candidate must be able to:
- Sit, stand, kneel, walk, and ski/snowboard for extended periods of time
- Push, pull, lift up to 50 pounds periodically, and up to 20 pounds frequently
- Work and teach effectively outside in inclement weather in a winter alpine environment
