Job Summary: The ideal candidate will engage in a variety of litigation activities, including legal research, witness preparation, and case management. The EPD is known for its collaborative environment, comprising over 25 skilled litigators who handle a diverse range of cases in both state and federal courts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive legal research and prepare detailed memoranda.
  • Prepare and manage legal documents, including briefs and pleadings.
  • Participate in all phases of litigation, from discovery to trial.
  • Provide expert legal counsel to state agencies and law enforcement entities.
  • Analyze complex legal and factual issues and develop evidence through various means.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of sensitive information.

Qualifications:

Assistant Attorney General I:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed attorney in Texas and in good standing with the State Bar.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in legal research, writing, and analysis.

Assistant Attorney General II:

  • All qualifications of Assistant Attorney General I, plus:
  • One year of full-time experience as a licensed attorney.
  • Demonstrated ability to present cases in court.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in courtroom settings, including trial and motion arguments.
  • Exceptional academic performance and credentials.
  • Background in Civil Litigation or Environmental Law.
