Job Summary: The ideal candidate will engage in a variety of litigation activities, including legal research, witness preparation, and case management. The EPD is known for its collaborative environment, comprising over 25 skilled litigators who handle a diverse range of cases in both state and federal courts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive legal research and prepare detailed memoranda.
- Prepare and manage legal documents, including briefs and pleadings.
- Participate in all phases of litigation, from discovery to trial.
- Provide expert legal counsel to state agencies and law enforcement entities.
- Analyze complex legal and factual issues and develop evidence through various means.
- Maintain confidentiality and security of sensitive information.
Qualifications:
Assistant Attorney General I:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
- Licensed attorney in Texas and in good standing with the State Bar.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient in legal research, writing, and analysis.
Assistant Attorney General II:
- All qualifications of Assistant Attorney General I, plus:
- One year of full-time experience as a licensed attorney.
- Demonstrated ability to present cases in court.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in courtroom settings, including trial and motion arguments.
- Exceptional academic performance and credentials.
- Background in Civil Litigation or Environmental Law.
