Job Overview

Summary:

The Supply Chain and Operations division is responsible for managing the production, inventory, and logistics of book distribution. We are seeking a meticulous print production manager with expertise in standard operating procedures, procurement, and the book printing process. Reporting to the Director of Supply Chain and Operations, you will take charge of print production, manage vendor relationships, uncover cost-saving strategies, and ensure quality control in book printing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all facets of print production, including scheduling, prepress, estimating, printing, and binding for text and components.
  • Establish and nurture strong partnerships with vendors, negotiating pricing terms with book manufacturers, paper suppliers, and other related entities.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving measures through strategic sourcing, negotiations, and process enhancements.
  • Assess vendor performance and manage quality control, addressing any issues that arise.
  • Utilize data to construct a compelling narrative and influence stakeholders when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate team trackers and status reports in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate across departments to coordinate project specifics and assist the team in prioritizing tasks effectively.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience in print production within a publishing environment, handling scheduling, prepress, estimating, color correction, printing, binding, and special effects on four-color print jobs.
  • Experience in developing standard operating procedures and managing requests for quotes/proposals with print manufacturers and paper suppliers.
  • Strong knowledge of supply chain management, procurement, quality assurance, inventory planning, and logistics.
  • Background in eCommerce, consumer brands, or product management is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated ability as a proactive decision-maker, leader, and motivator.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of engaging effectively with all organizational levels.
  • Adept at prioritizing tasks while managing multiple responsibilities.
  • Thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and is committed to hard work.
  • Passionate about commercial fiction and e-commerce.

Salary Range: $85,000 - $120,000
