Job Summary

This position is responsible for assisting in the organization, promotion, and implementation of recreational therapy programs in a long-term care facility. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of therapeutic activities and be able to lead and direct residents in various recreational activities as part of a medical/psychotherapeutic treatment program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the development and implementation of recreational therapy programs
  • Lead and direct residents in various recreational activities
  • Perform daily assessments of residents' participation in recreational programs
  • Document observations and progress towards established therapeutic goals
  • Collaborate with the Recreation Director to ensure program effectiveness
Requirements
  • Current Certified Nursing Assistant Certification from the State of New Mexico
  • Valid New Mexico Driver's License
  • Experience working with residents in a long-term care facility
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in an office setting within a long-term facility with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. The position also requires walking throughout the facility and frequent communication and interaction with residents, staff, and the public.
