Position Summary:

UNC Health Care is seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to become part of our Rex Lab Customer Services team. This role involves performing various blood collection procedures and conducting patient point-of-care testing to support clinical operations within our healthcare system.

The ideal candidate will possess experience in phlebotomy within a dynamic and fast-paced environment.


Work Schedule:

This position requires night shifts with rotating weekend patient collections.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Engage with healthcare providers and patients regarding phlebotomy service-related issues.
  • Ensure the quality and precision of all work performed.
  • Address and resolve issues related to equipment, patient results, specimens, and workflow.
  • Participate in team projects or special assignments as needed.
  • Provide training and guidance to new employees, phlebotomy students, and other healthcare staff.
  • Review test results for accuracy and report findings to healthcare providers promptly.
  • Conduct phlebotomy procedures, maintain quality control, and perform equipment upkeep in the designated laboratory.
  • Oversee daily operations and ensure the completion of assigned tasks within the laboratory work area.

Education Requirements:
  • High School diploma or GED.

Licensure/Certification Requirements:
  • No specific licensure or certification is required.

Professional Experience Requirements:
  • Minimum of one (1) year of phlebotomy experience, or
  • Graduates from a phlebotomy program without prior experience are also encouraged to apply.
