Job Title: Architect - Federal

Clark Nexsen is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Architect to join our team. As a key member of our Federal Architecture group, you will be responsible for designing and delivering high-quality architectural projects for government agencies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with project teams to develop design concepts and solutions that meet client needs and expectations.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients, stakeholders, and team members to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Participate in the design and development of architectural projects, including programming, concept development, schematic design, design development, and construction documentation.
  • Conduct site visits, review submittals, and respond to contractor questions to ensure project quality and compliance.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, stakeholders, and team members to ensure project objectives are met.
  • Mentor junior design staff to develop their skills and knowledge.
Requirements:
  • Professional degree from an NAAB-accredited Architecture program.
  • 8 or more years of professional experience in Federal architecture.
  • Fully licensed Architect in at least one US state.
  • Experience with United Facilities Criteria (UFC) and design of Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIFs) and spaces with Radio Frequency (RF) shielding.
  • Ability to gain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Additional accreditations supporting the firm's commitment to design and continued personal growth (LEED AP, WELL, etc.) will be given special consideration.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proficient use of Revit in producing complex models and construction documents.
  • Experience with 3D modeling, visualization, and graphics software (Rhino, Grasshopper, Lumion, Enscape, Twinmotion, and Adobe Suite).
  • Excellent graphic, drawing, and presentation capabilities.
  • Exposure to environmental analysis applications (Climate Studio, Sefaira, Insight360, and Lady Bug/Honeybee).
Work Environment:

The Virginia Beach, VA office is the ideal location for this position. Consideration will be given for other office locations should a candidate apply who displays the experience required to work independently of the main Federal architecture team.

This position requires a sedentary work environment with occasional extended periods of standing, sitting, and repetitive movements. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
