Fair Hearings Specialist 1

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Fair Hearings Specialist 1. In this role, you will be responsible for providing information regarding hearing procedures to various stakeholders, processing requests for administrative hearing records, and conducting hearings in accordance with federal and state regulations.
Key Responsibilities- Provide information and guidance to State agency and local district staff, clients, and their representatives regarding hearing procedures and protocols.
- Process requests for administrative hearing records, Fair Hearings, Homebound Hearings, and waiver of appearance requests from local social services districts and its agents.
- Schedule hearings and prioritize them in accordance with federal and state regulations, law, and court decisions.
- Manage workflow at hearing locations and conduct other matters related to the administrative hearing process.
- Handle general inquiries from clients, their representatives, or local agencies and make referrals to appropriate program areas or proper agency.
- Determine continuation of aid status and good cause for adjourning and reopening hearings.
- Draft responses to correspondence relating to the hearing process.
- Screen and process emergency hearings.
- Retrieve, analyze, and/or update information from various systems, including the Fair Hearing Information System and the Welfare Management System.
- Identify governmental entities or agents taking adverse action against clients and ensure all relevant parties are notified about a hearing request.
- Field compliance complaints and refer more complicated cases to the appropriate supervisor.
- Gather statistical data and prepare reports.
- Assist the supervisor in preparing written procedures.
To be successful in this role, you must have a strong understanding of hearing procedures and protocols, as well as excellent communication and organizational skills. You must also be able to work independently and as part of a team, and be able to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
