We are seeking a skilled Radiographer PRN to join our team at HCA Florida Fort Walton-Destin Hospital. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging department, you will be responsible for performing a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment and initiative.
Key Responsibilities- Selects and operates equipment, selecting proper technical factors on an individual patient basis, selects and loads proper film cassettes, using film markers correctly and consistently, develops film as required.
- Transfers and properly positions patients for examinations in order to obtain desired radiographic results according to physician specifications. Provides immobilization as required and protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards.
- Assist physicians in performance of examinations by mixing and pouring contrast media, administering contrast media, holding and turning patients, assisting in sterile procedures, and other related duties as required.
- Practice sterile techniques and prevents cross contamination. Maintains orderliness and cleanliness.
- Ensures that all exams are entered appropriately, makes edits as required, moves exam to taken status and verifies for the radiologist to read with all required documents.
- Performs QC functions as required.
- Properly documents all medications used in the EMAR.
- Responsible for the correct identification of the patient demographics on each film to include correct permanent marker right or left identification.
- Receives verbal orders for examinations from a responsible practitioner in keeping with the state license.
- Demonstrates Customer Service principles and behaviors appropriately.
- Actively seeks ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, quality of care or the services delivered.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the occurrence reporting system. Uses system to report potential patient safety issues.
- Follows established guidelines for reporting a significant medical error or unanticipated outcome in the patient's care which results in patient harm.
- Attends in-service presentations and completes all mandatory education requirements on or before the due date.
- Uses Performance Improvement Plan to improve patient safety.
- Registered Radiographer (ARRT) (R)
- State of Florida Registered Radiologic Technologist
- Associate Degree in Radiological Technology required
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
