Additional Information:
Candidates with MLT credentials, unregistered MLS, and registered MLS qualifications will be considered. The Registered Medical Technologist/MLS conducts tests across multiple departments within the clinical laboratory, including Hematology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Transfusion, and others.
These professionals serve as technical authorities to clinical personnel, colleagues, and various departments.They play a vital role in patient diagnosis and care, ensuring precise results through quality assurance, proficiency assessments, calibration, record evaluations, equipment maintenance, and troubleshooting of results and analyzers.
Intermountain caregivers in this capacity will have avenues for advancement, taking on additional responsibilities such as:Key operator dutiesQuality control reviewMentoring and training new personnelAssisting in the evaluation and validation of new instrumentsTechnical documentationCompliance preparation (CAP, CLIA, etc.)Acting as interim Team Lead
This role necessitates strong organizational abilities and the capacity to navigate numerous technical processes with meticulous attention to detail. These professionals excel as team members and uphold a clean and safe working environment.Minimum Qualifications for Registered MLS:
Bachelor's degree in chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory/medical technology science from an accredited institution. Degree verification is required.
Certification as a Medical Technologist / Medical Lab Scientist or equivalent certification as approved by management and human resources. Certification must be maintained for continued employment.
Willingness to work various shifts, including weekends, holidays, nights, and on-call.
Minimum Qualifications for Unregistered MLS:
Bachelor's degree in chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory/medical technology science from an accredited institution. Degree verification is required.
- OR official transcripts demonstrating completion of a recognized and accredited program.
Minimum Qualifications for MLT:
Associate's degree or at least 60 semester hours from an accredited MLT program along with national certification, MLT (ASCP or approved accrediting agency), or equivalent (military) certification as determined by management.
Willingness to work various shifts, including weekends, holidays, and nights.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with laboratory information systems.
Experience in relevant areas of the clinical laboratory.
Demonstrated ability to utilize laboratory systems, databases, and spreadsheets.
Proven effective communication skills in various formats.
Physical Requirements:
Interact with others requiring verbal communication.
Operate computers and complex laboratory equipment necessitating dexterity.
Read lab equipment, monitors, and documentation.
Maintain a seated or standing position for extended periods to perform work on a computer or other equipment.
