Overview
Under the guidance of the Road and Bridge Superintendent, this role is responsible for overseeing the activities related to road construction, upkeep, and rehabilitation.

Management Responsibilities:
Leads a team comprising Milling Machine Operators, Road Supervisors, Crew Chiefs, and Heavy Equipment Operators.

Key Responsibilities:
Executes tasks as assigned by the Superintendent, ensuring that all maintenance and construction activities align with project specifications. Maintains effective communication with both internal and external stakeholders to facilitate the successful execution of project objectives. Provides direct oversight and guidance to team members to guarantee that projects adhere to timelines and quality standards. Evaluates and addresses construction challenges, escalating issues to management when necessary to achieve optimal outcomes. Manages timekeeping and scheduling for personnel to ensure accurate billing for services rendered. Oversees, assesses, and trains team members; offers recommendations regarding hiring, promotions, and disciplinary actions; and supports the Superintendent as needed. Performs additional duties as required.

Qualifications and Experience:

Education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a relevant field.

A minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in interpreting construction plans and establishing grades, including at least one (1) year in a supervisory capacity.


Essential Skills and Knowledge:
Possession of a valid Texas Class A Commercial Driver's License with a clean driving record is required. Candidates must undergo mandatory drug testing prior to employment and will be subject to random, unannounced drug and/or alcohol testing throughout their employment. Familiarity with equipment operations is essential. Capability to complete road sections, including the cutting of blue top.

Physical and Environmental Conditions:
This position is based in a maintenance shop or road construction setting. It requires prolonged periods of kneeling, standing, walking, twisting, climbing, and the ability to lift and carry up to 100 lbs. with assistance. The role is on-call 24 hours a day and requires the ability to work in various environmental conditions (e.g., heat, cold, rain, ice, snow, etc.), both indoors and outdoors.
